Symphonic Band

 
 

The Spirit of the Sands Symphonic Band represents the wonderful tradition of wind music. The ensemble performs traditional wind literature in addition to well known musical favorites. Selected to perform at the 2005 State Music Educators Conference (CMEA), the band has performed in front of a crowd exceeding 20,000 in Brianzza Italy, performed twice on stage at the Sydney Opera House, , has performed at Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, Westminster Hall in London, the Edinburgh Trade Center in Scotland, and in front of crowds of more than 20,000 live in China with performances at the Millenium Plaza, Steel Stadium, and the Great Wall where they were televised to an audience of more than ONE BILLION. In 2009, they performed throughout South Africa including Capetown Hall, Soweto,  and Gugelethu townships. In 2012, the band performed in Wales and Scotland followed by a historical visit to Taiwan being the first international band to perform at the 103rd Youth Memorial Festival in Taipei.


This is the largest Concert Ensemble comprising between 120 and 150 musicians. They are joined by the Visual Corps who provide interpretive dance and props to enhance the auditory experience. The group is open to all students with wind and percussion experience.
