WELCOME TO... THE SOTS VIRTUAL BAND ROOM

March 27, 2020

Hello Everyone!!!

I hope everyone is doing well and you and your families are staying safe and healthy!!

The District is still making decisions on what is happening in terms of courses and end of year activities. I have also heard from some of you that said you are bored, bored bored!! As MUSICIANS, there is ALWAYS something new to try, learn, and share.... it truly is a lifetime art!! I thought I could use this space to share with you some videos and techniques you might want to try.... and I would love to share anything that you might find. Obviously, none of us are certain when things might return to a little bit more normal but I would be happy to share information or news if you would like to share....

WELCOME TO THE SOTS VISUAL BAND ROOM!!!

I hope this helps a little and just know.... you are our most important trophies!!

Mr I

FIRST A MESSAGE FROM MR INGELSON... THE OTHER ONE.... I AM GOING TO PLAY... HOPE YOU DO TOO!!!

We saw a video on Facebook (https://youtu.be/MocrV03sl8I) a couple nights ago of a band that got 500 kids to submit videos so they could have a virtual concert band performance, and I thought it would be cool to do that for our kids in the valley. I put together a website and all the backend infrastructure to make it very simple for everyone. If this first one goes well, I don't see why we couldn't do a song a week.

Our first piece is the March from Second Suite in F.

Here's how to participate :

1. Go to www.cvvirtualconcertband.com

2. Download the music and the audio file from step one. *It's really really really important everyone uses that exact audio file because it has information in it that helps me line everything up.

3. Record yourself playing your part on your cell phone (the audio needs to play through a second device).

4. Upload the video through a form I generated in step 3.

*Per our test last night, the whole process takes less than 15 minutes- assuming you nail your part the first time.

It would be so cool to get kids and community members all over the valley to play together. Please share the link, participate yourselves, and let's make some music!

Sincerely,

Matt Ingelson
